The dog house needs to be built based on how big your dog is. A thumb rule while building a dog house should be that the width is one foot in excess of the dog's width, length is 1.5 foot in excess of the dog and the height is 9 inches above the dog.
Also, if you are building a two room dog house, you can plan it so that the each of the room is big enough for the dog though the second room is bigger so that the dog can feel like lying there curled up.
