LCD TVs are purchased mainly for the experience it offers. That being the case, when buying LCD TV, look out for the extra features that comes with an LCD TV like Freeview and DVD, connections to game consoles, etc.
Bigger the screen, the better. But see if you would actually be able to accomodate the bigger sizes and hence only go for one that will fit in your house. Demo the acoustics of the particular model you are looking at before you purchase since most of the annoyance comes with bad acoustics.
