Description I know the options are pretty straight and narrow. But which one would you suggest?

From a layman perspective, I believe Ubuntu is the most user friendly Linux distro out there. Not only is it kinda well known now, but it also comes packed with Pidgin, Firefox, Open Office,etc. for you to get set on your PS3 straightaway. Take my words and go for it.
