Designer babies are the next controversial advancement in the new age whereby parents can choose the gender, eye color, and possibly many more traits of the baby in order to give birth to a preengineered baby.

They are not necessarily bad. Unlike cloning, designer babies are not going to give rise to children who are vulnerable. In fact, designer babies can provide more genetically evolved babies. But the reason they are frowned upon is that this is an unnatural process. While parents can ensure that their babies are not born with critical illnesses, they are also creating babies who are not “natural”.

Also, since this is an expensive process, the faster pace of evolution among the richer class using designer babies can lead to differential evolution proces.
