This has been a curious phenomena in many schools where kids of different cultures and societies. Most often, this ability of one set of children being better at maths than others is attributed to individual abilities and performances.

However, there are other theories around why Asian children are able to excel at maths over their counterparts from other parts of the world. According to Gladwell, its proponent, the human brain’s performance is not dependent on how much data it should process, but dependent on how much data can be stuffed in a period of time. The Asian numbering systems are smaller and clearer helping for more data to be processed in a period of time over English, giving to the presumption that Asian kids are better at maths.
