Green wood primarily refers to wood which has not been seasoned for use. As a result of this, it retains high moisture content. There are several reasons why such a wood should not be used in building any structure or in construction.
The primary reason is that it is soft – since it retains a lot of moisture and cannot be tough. Also, as the wood dries up, it will shrink. If the construction is made when the wood was still green, it could lead to loosened structures, sometimes even leading to breakage. Also, as much as it is easy to cut and develop it into a structure, it is also susceptible to damage more easily than treated and seasoned wood.
