Question

Why were Gargoyles used in buildings?

Description

Gargoyles were pieces of decorative sculpture carved on the buildings during the medieval period, not just as a piece of artistry, but also, at many times, to serve as a spout from where to evict the water collected on the roof top because of rain.

They do not hold any special significance except for the fact that they formed a core piece of architecture of those days.
